Does this pay well as a side job.... I was thinking I could by something around 26-31 feet. What training and classes do you have to do for this? Also do you receive a lot of business?

Open Question: My views on spanking...?

Sat, 22 Dec 2007 23:41:08 GMT
Okay, first and foremost...yes, I am against spanking. Does that mean that I think everyone who has ever tapped their child on the bottom is an evil child abuser? No, of course not. So this is my disclaimer: I am not trying to attack anyone's opinion, so spankers, please do not write nasty and rude replies telling me what an idiot I am for being against spanking. That certainly does not change my outlook on spanking when people in favor of it act so rude and disrespectful. My main question is, why do people seem to think that spanking is the only possible way to raise children? Why do so many people think that all kids who aren't spanked become criminals? That isn't true at all! There are a lot of kids now who are spoiled because their parents don't want to have to deal with them so they basically just don't discipline at all. But my parents didn't spank me, yet they still disciplined me. We have a wonderful relationship now and I respect others.
And by the way, I personally know someone who was spanked as a child because his parents thought it was a good thing. He was well-behaved when he was little, and then once he started school and he was away from his parents, he started acting up and was always getting in trouble. And of course, his parents just paddled him more the more he got in trouble, yet things still did not improve. And now, he is depressed, he hates his parents, and he is experimenting with drugs to try to take away all of his pain. Would you really want this to happen to your child? Now, I'm not saying that this happens to every child who is spanked, but the fact that something like this could happen would certainly make me want to steer clear of spanking, especially since it IS possible to achieve discipline without hitting. This boy that I know is not the only example, there are plenty of people that have written about how damaged they are from being spanked.

Open Question: I need help on theses questions..?

can someone help me answer these questions about The Masque of the Red Death I cant find the answers anywhere

1. What symbolic evidence can you find in Poe's use of the following:

the number seven

the use of colors, especially the black and scarlet in the seventh room

the movement from east to west in the sequence of the rooms and throughout the story

2.In the last paragraph, Poe alludes to a prophecy from the Bible: "For yourselves know perfectly that the Day of the Lord so cometh like a thief in the night." (1 Thessalonians 5:2) "The Day of the Lord" is a way of referring to Judgment Day, or the last day of the world. In your opinion, how does this allusion add a layer of meaning to this story?

Open Question: TV and society?

Sat, 22 Dec 2007 23:02:06 GMT
Do you think TV influences society's behavior? And in what way? To what extent?

More specifically, do you think typical teen shows such as The O.C. influence teenage behaviors? Such as loosing virginity early on, dressing a certain way, loving drama in life, acting, etc?
